AI Transparency Notice
How optional AI assistance uses lesson evidence, what it can suggest and why instructor approval remains mandatory.

Purpose
AI assistance reduces repetitive lesson administration by organising information supplied by the instructor into an editable draft. It is not a substitute for observing the pupil, professional judgement or official guidance.
How the assistance works
When the instructor requests help, the service sends the submitted factual lesson note to a configured cloud language model with a narrow instruction to return structured draft fields. The current workflow can propose a pupil summary, strengths, areas to improve and next-lesson ideas. Model settings favour consistent, cautious wording rather than creative variation.
Instructor control
AI does not independently grade a pupil, decide test readiness, make a safety decision or update a pupil record. The instructor must review, correct and explicitly approve output before it is saved or shared.
Data minimisation
Only information needed for the selected task should be submitted. Instructors should remove unnecessary personal or sensitive detail and must not use AI to process information they are not entitled to disclose.
Accuracy and sources
AI may produce incomplete, outdated or incorrect content. The instructor must compare suggestions with lesson evidence and current official sources. The Highway Code and DVSA materials take priority over generated wording.
Availability and manual fallback
AI features may be unavailable, limited or changed. Every core lesson-record workflow must remain usable without AI.
Provider and questions
