Privacy Notice
How InstructorLane handles instructor accounts, pupil workspace data, billing information, support requests and optional AI processing.

Who we are
InstructorLane is a UK digital service operated under the InstructorLane name. Product and website implementation is by Goodform. For data-protection correspondence, email [email protected].
Roles for instructor and pupil data
InstructorLane acts as controller for account registration, authentication, service security, subscription status, support and website administration. An instructor will usually be a separate controller for pupil information they choose to record and must provide pupils with an appropriate privacy notice.
Information we process
We may process account and contact details, authentication and session data, subscription status, device and security logs, lesson diary entries, availability, pupil contact and training records, instructor notes, progress evidence, payment records entered by the instructor, files and support correspondence.
Why we use it
We use information to perform the service contract, secure accounts, synchronise workspaces, provide requested features, administer billing, prevent abuse, respond to support, meet legal obligations and pursue legitimate interests in maintaining a reliable and secure product.
Service providers and transfers
The production service may use Cloudflare for hosting and storage, Stripe for subscription billing, an email provider for account messages and a configured AI provider when an instructor requests AI assistance. Providers are limited to the information required for their role. Where information is transferred internationally, appropriate UK transfer safeguards are used where required.
AI processing
AI is optional. Information is sent for an AI task only when the instructor requests that task. Output remains a draft and is not used for solely automated decisions about a pupil. Instructors should avoid entering unnecessary special-category or highly sensitive information.
Retention
Account and workspace information is kept while the account remains open and for periods reasonably needed for security, support, contractual, accounting or legal purposes. A paused trial or subscription does not by itself delete the workspace. Verified deletion requests are processed subject to legal retention needs and normal backup expiry.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, individuals may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, receive portable information and complain. Requests can be sent to [email protected]. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children and learners under 18
Driving learners may be under 18. Instructors are responsible for selecting an appropriate lawful basis, providing age-appropriate information and involving a parent or guardian where required by their own circumstances.
Contact and support enquiries
When you use the contact form, we process your name, email address, enquiry category, message and technical delivery metadata to answer the request, maintain support records and protect the form from abuse. Enquiries are delivered to [email protected] and should not contain passwords, payment-card data or unnecessary pupil information.
Security and changes
We use account separation, encrypted transport, access controls, logging and service-provider security measures. No system can guarantee absolute security. Material changes to this notice will be published with an updated effective date.
